7 Days/6 Nights
Day 1: Palermo-Cefalù: Arrive at Palermo airport and we’ll have your rental car waiting for you! You can go straight to your luxury hotel or spend time cruising around the dynamic Italian coast. For dinner, we suggest you peruse the streets and let the smell of fresh cooked pasta guide your way. Although Cefalù is full of delicious fine dining, this coastal village is famous for its street food. From traditional Sicilian to Arab inspired cuisine, Cefalù’s range and quality makes its street food unmatched!
Day 2: Cefalù – Bodegas Abbazia Sant’Anastasia – Palermo – Cefalù: Breakfast at the hotel. With its rich history, beautiful beaches, and panoramic views, Cefalù deserves a whole day of your holiday. The morning is yours to enjoy, and we recommend visiting Museo Mandralisca, an architectural marvel with wide range of collections covering archaeology, natural history, paintings, and decorative arts. If you’d prefer something more active, try the one hour climb to La Rocca and experience the best view in all of Cefalù. For lunch, we will continue to the area of Castelbuono, a small town located about 50 kilometers from Palermo and dine at Cantine Sant’Anastasia, tasting some of the best wines produced in the region. Later in the afternoon, you have the option to visit the city of Palermo. If you chose to do this, we recommend visiting any of the stunning architectural wonders Palermo has to offer. These include the Palatine Chapel, the Royal Palace, the Cathedral, the Massimo Theater (external visit) and Piazza Pretoria in front of the Municipality. We will head back to Cefalù for dinner, as the dining options are endless.
Day 3: Cefalù – Segesta – Erice – Trapani – Marsala: After breakfast, we will depart to Segesta and visit the Doric temple, a beautiful stone building immersed in a wonderful natural landscape. Next we’ll continue to Erice and visit of the medieval town that is 400 meters above sea level. You’ll have some free time to wander, shop, and eat lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll take a panoramic visit of Trapani and its famous salt flats. We will then travel to todays last destination, Marsala: a city known throughout the world for the production of its homonymous sweet wine. Dinner will be served at Pellegrino Cellar (or similar) where we will taste this excellent wine, from older to younger vintages. Night at the hotel in Marsala.
Day 4: Marsala – Selinunte – Menfi – Agrigento: After breakfast at the hotel, we will depart to Selinunte and visit the archaeological zone of the ruins of the ancient roman city. Next we will continue to Menfi, a small town known as a beach lovers paradise. Lunch at the Lanzara wineries in the charming surroundings of Baglio San Vincenzo, an old farm. After lunch, experience an authentic Lanzara wine tasting and roam around the enchanting vineyards. In the afternoon, we will travel to Agrigento. Dinner by your own.
Day 5: Agrigento – Piazza Armerina – Caltagirone – Ragusa: After breakfast, visit the famous Valley of the Temples, defined by Pindaro as “the most beautiful city of mortals” and continuation to Piazza Armerina, where we will visit the Villa Romana del Casale, famous for its magnificent and well-preserved mosaics: approximately 3,500 square meters of surface and today a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, depart to Caltagirone and visit the famous Ceramic Stairs. We will then continue to Ragusa: a stunning Sicilian Baroque city, where we will have dinner at the Donnafugata wineries and taste the local wines: Nerello Mascalese or Cerasuolo di Vittoria. Night at the hotel in Ragusa.
Day 6: Ragusa – Catania – Etna – Catania / Etna: After breakfast, we will visit Catania, Sicily’s second largest city at the base of Mount Etna. After experiencing the charm of this metropolitan city, we will continue to Etna: the highest active volcano in Europe. We will reach about 1900 meters and find ourselves in a lunar landscape, visiting the Silvestri craters, now extinct. Lunch at Cantine Murgo (or similar) to taste local organic products and Etna wines. Return to Catania. Dinner is on your own, but you will not lack options in this cosmopolitan city.
