Catania Street Food – Morning Tour

The tour will begin with a visit to the cathedral in the central Piazza Duomo, where you will meet a local guide. Then you will go to the fish market, where you will taste cheeses, olives and typical products. For those who prefer fish to meat, in the fishmonger, you will taste the best-fried fish in the city (mullets, anchovies and paranza of the day). We will continue along Via Crociferi, famous for its churches, then Via Etnea, the main street of Catania, and Piazza Stesicoro, home of the Roman amphitheater.

Two steps to reach the historic Bar Savia to taste the best arancini in Catania, while the famous cipollini awaits you in the Panetteria bacini (Catania specialty made of puff pastry, tomato, onion, mozzarella and ham). Crossing “the fair”, you will arrive at the Kiosko Costa, to taste the typical sparkling drink based on Selz and syrups, the next stop in front of the port for a mixed plate of meat and grilled horse meatballs at the moment and the mythical cipollata (pork belly wrapped in long onion). The last stop is dedicated to pastries, including the famous cannoli with ricotta, cassatella (a dessert always made with ricotta) and almond paste (during the winter months) or the equally famous Sicilian granite (during the summer months). At the end of the tour, the local guide will give you the postcard ” La via dell’ Elefante ” to remember the stages and the different foods tasted.
