Day 1: Frankfurt – Würzburg: The first day of your culinary tour through Germany leads you to Würzburg, a pretty town in the heart of the Franconian wine region. Explore the city at your own pace. You may want to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site the Residence Palace, a medieval Marienberg fortress with magnificent views of the Main valley and the cathedral. In the evening, enjoy a culinary night watchman tour. During this tour, you will learn more about the history of the city and stop at traditional “Gasthäusern (Inn’s)” to taste some typical Franconian food like Mostsuppe (Franconian cider soup) and Apfelküchle (baked Applerings).

Day 2: Würzburg – Rothenburg: In the morning, travel from Würzburg to Rothenburg, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities along the Romantic Road. From 1170 to 1240, Rothenburg was a Free Imperial City. Strategically located, Rothenburg is nestled on the shores of the meandering Tauber River. A stroll through its narrow, cobblestone streets is a trip back in time. The medieval city center has been beautifully preserved for you to admire the wooden houses, the historic town hall and extensive medieval city wall. The highlight of this day is a wine tasting where you will taste different types of regional wines.

Day 3: Rothenburg – Nuremberg: Today we continue to Nuremberg, known for the historic, post WWII Nuremberg Trials. Take the time to explore the historic city center at your own pace and see the well-preserved Kaiserburg, Gothic churches, romantic houses and peaceful squares. In the late afternoon, join an interesting tour through the underground cellars of Nuremberg, where you learn more about the history and the elaborate process of beer making that dates back to the 19thcentury. The tour ends with a tasting of a local beer.

Day 4: Nuremberg – Bamberg – Nuremberg: Today visit Bamberg, located in northern Bavaria. The town is famous for its beer and features a lovely old city center, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Discover the historic city center, the cathedral, the castle Altenburg and more. Free time to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the city in a beer garden “Biergarten” with a delicious local beer. Later return to Nuremberg for overnight.

Day 5: Nuremberg – Lindau (Lake Constance): Today we continue to the small island of Lindau in Lake Constance, which offers spectacular views of the Alps. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a tasting of local cheese and wine with an experienced Cheese Sommelier and Wine Guide. Later you have time to admire the many sights and historical buildings.

Day 6: Lindau (Lake Constance) – Munich: This morning we continue to your last destination, Munich. The capital of Bavaria is famous for its beer culture as well as its hearty meals. In addition to our historic tour of streets and buildings of Munich Old Town, we also experience authentic Bavarian cuisine at the historic Viktualien Market. Since the beginning of the 19th century, this market offers all local delicacies in the heart of the city. We explore the colorful market stands and learn what a cabbage wrap or “Schmalznudel” is used for, and of course tasting them.
