DAY 1: Arrival in Florence, pick up your car and drive to Cortona through the splendid Tuscan Countryside. Arrival at Borgo Il Melone****. Overnight.
DAY 2: Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning enjoy a Tuscan cooking course at Borgo il Melone to learn all the secrets of the traditional recipes. At the end of the classes you will gather together on the terrace with a view of the countryside to enjoy what you have cooked. Free afternoon. You can start with a visit of the Medieval town of Cortona: the beautiful Hermitage Le Celle founded by San Francesco and the waterfall in front of the convent. You can also visit the Diocesan Museum and the Churches of San Niccolò and Santa Maria delle Grazie al Calcinaio, to mention just a few. Overnight.
DAY 3: Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to Trasimeno lake by boat. Departing from Tuoro sul Trasimeno then proceeding in the direction of Passignano, where you can admire the beauty of the Rocca Medievale (Medieval Fortress) and the village that lies on the shores of the lake. Following this, we navigate towards Maggiore Island, where we take a half-hour break and where it is possible to admire, among the various wonders, the castle of Guglielmi. Next we circumnavigate around the smallest of the three islands, Minore. Cajoled by the waters of the lake, slowly we arrive at Castiglione del Lago, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, to admire it in all its splendor and observe the majestic Rocca del Leone (Leone Fortress). The return journey from the departure pier is expected to be approximately three hours of navigation. Available, on request, light lunch or aperitif. Rest of day at leisure. Overnight.
DAY 4: Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will join an exclusive tour of the vineyards and the winery. You will see 2 of the iconic vineyards, La Stella and Vigna Tonda, and visit the appassitoio (drying room), the vinsantaia (Vin Santo ageing cellar) and the underground barrique tunnel. During the visit you will learn about the principles of biodynamic viticulture. After the tour you will enjoy a tasting of 4 Avignonesi wines in the tasting room. Rest of day at leisure. Overnight.
DAY 5: Day at leisure. After breakfast spend the day driving along Tuscany or Umbrian countryside. You can choose to travel to Siena, worldwide known for its Palio, an ancient horse ride, where the Cathedral and the famous Piazza del Campo are not to be missed, or Arezzo, an Etruscan city located near Cortona, rich in churches, palaces and interesting museums. Or you can decide to drive towards the Umbria region to reach Perugia, an ancient city where you can visit the Fontana Maggiore, the archaeological area, and the Etruscan and medieval walls. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 6: Day at leisure. After breakfast we suggest you visit some of the medieval villages: Montepulciano (18 miles), Pienza (31 miles ), Montalcino (65 km), Assisi ( 40 miles ), Gubbio (44 miles ), Orvieto (62 miles ), San Gimignano (68 miles ) well-known all over the world for their exclusive wines and cheeses. Overnight.
DAY 7: Breakfast at the hotel. End of the services. Drive back to Florence and drop off of the car.
