DAY 1: Welcome to Geneva. Upon arrival in Geneva, transfer to your hotel and check in.
DAY 2: Geneva – Chamonix, Mont-Blanc. Feast your eyes on dramatic landscapes as you travel by coach through the scenic Arve Valley to Chamonix. Chamonix’s position at the foot of Europe’s highest peak, Mont-Blanc, makes it one of the most popular mountain villages in the area. On this full-day trip from Geneva, you’ll have access to Aiguille du Midi, a rocky 3,842-meter peak close to Mont Blanc. Take a ride up on the most famous cable car in the world! This high mountain site, equipped for your comfort and safety, offers a 360-degree panorama, taking in the majestic Mont-Blanc as well as the whole of its massif. In addition, you’ll also enjoy panoramic views of the Chamonix Valley and the major peaks of the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps. The Aiguille du Midi comprises the Piton Nord, the Piton Central with the Mont-Blanc gallery, and the Mont-Blanc terrace with its unforgettable view of Mont-Blanc. Take a charming little red train from Charmonix to the Montenvers site and the world famous Mer de Glace glacier. The Montenvers site is surrounded by the magnificent summits of les Drus, les Grandes Jorasses, and les Grands Charmoz. Learn about the largest French glacier and nature in the Alpine environment at exhibits here. Meals: Breakfast
DAY 3: Geneva – Gruyères Tour with Train Ride & Tastings: Admire breathtaking landscapes of Gruyères. At the top of the hill, breathe pure mountain air and hear cowbells in the pasture. Enjoy authentic Alpine cheese making and become expert in (Swiss) cheese fondue by preparing it yourself. The chocolate factory visit starts around 10:45 AM and ends at 12:00 PM. After the visit you will go to a traditional restaurant from about 12:20pm to 2pm where you will taste different kinds of local cheeses, dried meat and sausage, and enjoy the fondue dish and a small local dessert. Then you will have free time in Gruyères village from about 2:15 PM to 3:00 PM and then we will take you to the Golden Pass train in Montbovon at 3:28pm. Relax in a comfortable ride aboard the famous Golden Express train overlooking magnificent views over Lake Leman. Meals: Breakfast
DAY 4: Geneva – Stresa: In the early afternoon take the train from Geneva to Stresa, traveling through snowy passes, over vast viaducts, and past mountain villages where cows graze with their distinctive tinkling cloche bells. On arrival in Stresa, check into your hotel for a three-night stay. Like other northern Italian lakes, Lake Maggiore’s credentials as a tourist destination go back hundreds of years. This idyllic spot has attracted visitors since the beginning of the 18th century, who come to soak up the sun, relax and enjoy the many attractions the area has to offer. Lakeside gardens bloom with a profusion of camelias, azaleas and rhodedendrons and the lake’s azure waters are home to numerous species of freshwater fish, some of which can be sampled in the local restaurants. DAY 5: Stresa – Lake Maggiore, Isola Bella, Ascona, Locarno and the Centovalli: An unforgettable journey by train and ship. You will travel in Ticino, the southern part of Switzerland and into Italy. For an hour and a half you will cross a wild and romantic region with the Centovalli railway through the Centovalli/valle Vigezzo (one hundred valleys): meadows alternate with daring bridges, streams of the purest water, vineyards, chestnut forests with villages clinging to mountain slopes. You will navigate across the Lago Maggiore for three hours, to admire the Borromeo Islands, the Cannero castles and the Brissago Islands; a beautiful shoreline with quaint villages and picturesque bays. Discover villages as well-known pleasure resorts as Stresa, Ascona and Locarno. You will have the opportunity to have lunch on board (please reserve before leaving) or in a nice little restaurant of your choice. Let yourself be impressed by the charm of the Lago Maggiore and the Centovalli Meals: Breakfast.
DAY 6: Stresa – Milan: After breakfast take the train from Stresa to Milan. Check in at your hotel and enjoy time at leisure. Overnight in Milan. Meals: Breakfast
DAY 7: Milan – Como Lake and Bellagio: After breakfast you’ll have the chance to discover the beauty of the Italian lakes! This charming experience includes the transfer by train from Milan to Como and a walking tour of the chic lake town of Como with your tour leader. You’ll discover majestic white marble Duomo, walk along the elegant Via Vittorio Emanuele, the ancient medieval walls and the Romanesque Sant’ Abbondio Church. If you also like shopping you love the beautiful and picturesque streets with traditional and local shops and products. Then you’ll enjoy a boat-cruise on the lake to reach the charming village of Bellagio, a pearl of the Como Lake. Your One Day pass (Free boat circulation ticket) will let you explore the area as you desire and lose yourself in the magnificent Villa Carlotta botanical gardens or through the alleys of graceful villages. After the tour your tour leader will escort you back to Milan and stay overnight at your hotel. (B) Meals: Breakfast
DAY 8: Milan – Airport: Transfer to the airport and board your flight home.
