DAILY DEPARTURE FROM 01 MARCH TO 30 NOVEMBER 2019
DAY 1: Arrival to Marseille: Arrival at Marseille Airport and transfer to the hotel with private car minibus with professional driver. Check in at the hotel and rest of the day at leisure to start enjoying this very fascinating city. Overnight.
DAY 2: Small group day trip Aix En Provence, Cassis and Marseille & Dinner: Start your second day in Marseille with a tour exploring this charming city with its very beautiful city centre and the marvelous surroundings of Marseille, Aix en Provence and Marseille. Drive to Aix en Provence Provencal market. Walking guided tour of the historical center and market with your guide, admire the cathedral, explore narrow streets filled with history, squares and fountains. Tasting of local specialties as the famous “calissons”, chocolate, biscuits or olive products. Walk in the path of Cezanne and Picasso on the Corso Mirabeau. Then you will travel to Cassis: Discover the little port of Cassis and its calanques listed by Unesco. Free time to walk around the village, relax on the beach or board on a motor boat for a 45 min mini-cruise through the main creeks. Lunch at leisure in Cassis. Finally, you will reach Marseille: Drive to Marseille and visit Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde Basilica and enjoy a panoramic view over the Phocean city. Visit the Abbey of Saint-Victor and the crypt. Walk around le Panier, visit the Cathedral “La Major”, the Mucem and fort Saint John. The Tour finish in Marseille city centre at 18.00 approximately, In the evening get a great local dinner at the “Bistrot L’Horloge”, just in front of the Opera, few steps from Le Vieux Port. Overnight.
DAY 3: Small group day trip best of Provence / Baux De Provence – Arles – Pont Du Gard – Avignon: Enjoy a fantastic day visiting the treasures of Provence and it’s charming villages. BAUX DE PROVENCE: Drive through the national park of Alpilles to reach the perched medieval village of Baux de Provence. Free time at leisure to explore and admire the fortress. ARLES: Visit Arles historical center with your guide, one of the most ancient Roman city of Provence. Discover the arena, amphitheater, Saint Trophime church, Van Gogh café, summer garden and Van Gogh hospital. Free time at leisure for lunch.PONT DU GARD: Free time to visit the Roman aqueduct, built in the 1st century AD and listed by Unesco. AVIGNON : Walking guided tour of the Pope city with your guide, admire the Pope palace, Avignon Bridge, garden and cathedral (50 min). Return to Marseille at 18.00, rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure. Overnight.
DAY 4: From Marseille to Nice: Transfer from hotel in Marseille to the rail station to take a fast train to Nice (journey is approx. 2 hours and half). Arrival in Nice rail station and meeting with our driver for transfer to the hotel in the city center. Rest of the day and evening at leisure to start enjoying this very fascinating city. Overnight.
DAY 5: The Nice city tour in the morning and dinner: At 09:30am – you will enjoy a great tour with topic attractions in Nice. Drive along the “Promenade des Anglais” – the seaside boulevard that runs along the bay of Nice – admire a splendid panorama, enjoy museums and discover the unique atmosphere of the old town. In the Castle hill you can admire the splendid panorama over the bay of Nice, the beaches, the port and the old town. Then pass to Cimiez: Gardens – Franciscan Church – Matisse Museum: Founded by the Greeks, the Roman ruins (therms and arena) show the earnest interest that Nice has always inspired. As for the Belle Epoque buildings, you will admit that they convey beautifully the golden age of the city. The beauty of the gardens creates a haven of peace in the heart of the city. Then enter the Franciscan church (15th – 17th century) where you can discover part of the work of Louis Bréa – a leading reference of religious art in the 15th century – 3 of his paintings are on display. Walk through the parc of Cimiez to reach the Matisse museum (free entrance – closed on Tuesdays) unless you choose to go and visit the Chagall museum (entrance fee: 6€ – closed on Tuesdays). Finally pass through the Old city: Day and night it is the best meeting point for Nice people and friends: On the Saleya square (center of the old Nice) you will enjoy the famous flower market (closed on Mondays) where you would find a flea market instead). Rest of the afternoon at leisure. In the evening your will get a great French dinner at the restaurant “Citrus” in the city centre. Overnight.
DAY 6: The best French Riviera and Provence with Eze, Monaco, Montecarlo, Antibes, Cannes and St. Paul De Vence: Enjoy a memorable day visiting the fantastic surroundings of Nice. You will start the tour with a view from the “Mont Boron” area where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama over the Nice / Villefranche. You will then drive on the middle ‘Corniche’ road along the dramatic coastline to Eze: A medieval village: The village hides many shops and crafts within its labyrinthine streets. Atop the village you can find a ruined castle along an exotic garden with amazing views on the coast. You will have some free time to visit this typical medieval village. Walk along the narrow lanes , appreciate the beauty of stone buildings and venture into the local shops. You will then enjoy a free guided visit of the famous perfume factory “Fragonard”. A few minute drive on the low ‘corniche’ road will get you to Monaco: The principality…: Monaco is a constitutional monarchy and a city state of only 2km². Your first stop is the old town of Monaco. There you will have a chance to see the changing of the guards in front of the Prince’s palace (at noon) and the cathedral where Princess Grace is buried. Enjoy a walk on the tiny streets to do some souvenir shopping during your free time. You will then drive on the legendary F1 Grand Prix track onto the casino square with its luxury shops nearby, enjoy a stop in the heart of the Monegasque luxury! ANTIBES, between modernity and tradition…: It was founded in Roman time (and was a former military garrison) and fell into the hands of the Grimaldi family for a long time. The medieval old town and its fortifications (16th century) offers a wonderful view over the Bay of Nice and a traditional Provençal covered market. Next to it, the Château Grimaldi houses the Picasso museum which used to be the studio of the famous artist. Next you will drive on to Cannes along the coastline through the Cap d’Antibes (one of the most exclusive area of the Riviera). CANNES, the Film festival city, a place of glitz and glamour …: Beyond the stir of international conventions and congresses, comes the thrill of holidaymakers dreaming of the Film Festival city, the red carpet and the famous Croisette boulevard where many starts have left their mark. A short drive will lead you to the famous hilltop village of …. SAINT PAUL DE VENCE, the second most visited French Village: In the early 1920’s artists started discovering Saint Paul. Painters were forerunners who found an incomparable richness and intensity of light in the peaceful Provençal village. Famous artists such as Paul Signac, Raoul Dufy or Chaïm Soutine will be later joined by Henri Matisse or Pablo Picasso. Return to Nice at 18.00, rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure. Overnight.
DAY 7: Departure Transfer: Free time for eventual shopping or last self visit before being transferred from the hotel to the airport with private car minibus with professional driver.
